KATHERINE SWAN

Katherine Swan, she/her, is a playwright who lives in Chicago. Her plays include Some Other Woman Like Me, a finalist for the Henley Rose Award and semi-finalist for The Bay Street Theatre New Play Festival, Act V, workshopped at A Red Orchid Theatre's incubator series, and Red Bell, which was recently workshopped at The Barrow Group.

Her plays have been performed or developed at The Road (Los Angeles),  The William Inge Theatre Festival New Play Lab (Kansas), the Reboot Festival (London), Windmill Arts Blueprint Festival (Atlanta), Arc Stages (NY), Renaissance Theaterworks (Milwaukee), AnyWay Productions (Los Angeles), The Artistic Home (Chicago), and other theatres nationally and internationally.  

Her play Pony was a winner of the Carlow Little Theatre’s 2021-22 International One Act Play Competition in Carlow, Ireland. Her work has been anthologized by Smith & Kraus in their collections Best Ten-Minute PlaysBest Men's Stage Monologues,

and Best Women’s Stage Monologues. She is a member of the Writer's Pool and a 2025-26 Resident Playwright with Playground Chicago. As an actor, Katherine worked around Chicago with theatres such as Raven, Jackalope, Idle Muse, and The Artistic Home, where she was a longtime ensemble member, and where she directed the Jeff recommended world premiere of the play Beaten. Katherine also served as an Assistant-Director on Facility Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Right Now.
